George Pickett
General George Pickett resigned from the U.S. military to become a Colonel at the start of the Civil War. Eventually, Pickett was able to work his way up to a major general. He also played a role in several major battles throughout the war.
In one battle, Pickett suffered a severe injury and was taken out of commission for a period of time. George Pickett was able to take part in major battles like Fredericksburg though, and Pickett's name is normally associated with the battle of Gettysburg. When Pickett's men arrived, were ordered to run into Union attacks. This attack, known as "Pickett's Charge", cause the Confederate to lose many men since they ran straight into the Union line of fire.
Pickett and his group of men went further to fight in other battles through the war, but was destroyed and made to surrender in the battle of Five Forks. Though Pickett's name doesn't seem to be associated with much success, his hard work and dedication proved to be a lot, as we can see from his promotions to colonel to major general.
